For those of you joining us from previous weeks, welcome back! For those of you just joining in, welcome to Romance Weekly where each week a bunch of us authors will answer the same three questions and you get to hop around from blog to blog and learn a little more about us. 🙂 This week’s questions are brought to you by the most fabulous Jeanne McDonald. 🙂 Ready? Let’s do this.
1. Describe that moment you first felt like a true author (not just an aspiring one).
I think it was probably when my second book published. The first one was very surreal. But when Promised to the Highlander came out and readers began to talk about the series, I felt like my vision was being realized and yeah, I finally admitted to myself that I was an author. I think it took me longer to admit I was a writer, though. I was probably on my seventh or eighth re-write of Bound to the Highlander before I was willing to say I was a writer.
2. Name three authors who you inspire you.
Stephen King, for the vivid way in which he writes, Johanna Lindsey, for the beauty of her romances, and Jane Austen, for the best dialogue I’ve ever read. As a writer, I think it is necessary that I keep reading. In doing so, I am reminded of just how many talented authors are out there and how exciting it is to become lost in a story. That combination makes me want to keep improving my craft.
3. Describe your favorite fan moment (either you as the fan or one of your readers approaching you as a fan).
I would have to say that was when I met Sharon Frizell. We had been chatting online for a while and an opportunity arose for us to meet at a book signing. I thoroughly enjoyed the moment and our online friendship has grown from there. I admire her attention to detail as a reader and look for her opinion when I’m stuck on something. She rocks!!!
Well that’s it for me this week. Hop on over to see how Carrie Elks answered the same questions. Till next week!
